KALAMAZOO, MI — Police are looking for a missing 16-year-old female who is considered endangered, the Kalamazoo Department of Public Safety said.

About 3:20 a.m. on Friday, July 10, officers from the Kalamazoo Department of Public Safety responded to the 1900 block of East Kilgore Service Road for a report of a missing person with special needs, police said.

16-year-old Derricka Lewis walked away from her family at the location and has not been seen since, KDPS said in a July 10 news release.

Family members believe that Lewis may be confused about her surroundings. She has a mental health disability requiring her to have continuous supervision, police said.

Lewis is described as a 16-year-old black female. She is approximately 5-5 tall and weighs about 230 pounds. She was last seen wearing a black shirt, black shorts, and black/red/white Nike shoes, police said.
