HOLLAND, MI -- Police are looking for a 6-year-old boy and a 17-year-old who went missing from Holland State Park in the late afternoon hours of Saturday.

Ottawa County sheriff’s deputies said the 17-year-old may have drowned and was last seen struggling in the water 40-50 yards off shore.

Rescuers were at the scene looking for the teen, of Grand Rapids, when they were told of a missing 6-year-old boy, Iain Rowe.

The boy was last seen standing in waist deep water.

Deputies said they initially responded to the park about 4:55 p.m. Saturday, June 6 to look for the 17-year-old missing in the water.

They were told that he and his 19-year-old brother were swimming off the beach and began to struggle in the water. Bystanders were able to throw the older teen a life ring and they assisted him back to shore.

But the younger teen was last seen about 40 yards off shore

Police said the boy, Iain Rowe, is slightly over 4 feet tall with blonde hair and blue eyes. He was last seen wearing a blue and white vertically stripped swimsuit.

Anyone with information about him can call the sheriff’s office at 800-240-0911.

Police said the lake conditions involved 4-6 feet waves with a rip current. Sheriff’s deputies and U.S. Coast Guard members are looking on both land and water for the boy and teen.
