Hale will perform the new song on October 11 at the World Woman Hour Global Premiere
In 2011, the United Nations declared October 11 as the International Day of the Girl, an incredible milestone in support of girls’ rights. This year, America’s Got Talent alumnus Angelica Hale releases “Looking Up,” a new song recognizing this annual celebration, with lyrics inspired by the brilliance, strength, and generational power of girls everywhere.
Hale will officially debut “Looking Up” with a performance at the World Woman Hour global digital event on October 11. “Looking Up,” written by 2x Grammy-nominated composer and songwriter Ryan Shore and award-winning songwriter Elizabeth Russo, helps soundtrack the inspiring stories of 60 women, told in 60 seconds each, in a powerful 60 minutes of film. The film, which features Cynthia Erivo, Raja Kumari, Kechi Okwuchi, Faouzia Ouihya, MC Soffia, and Billboard VP of Latin Music Industry Leila Cobo, will be first shown at this weekend’s premiere of the World Woman Hour event.
The event also serves as the culmination of the World Woman Foundation’s #ShesMyHero campaign. “I’m extremely honored to be participating in the World Woman Hour,” says Angelica Hale. “It’s so wonderful that, through singing and overcoming my own personal health struggles, I’ve been able to help make a difference in the lives of others, especially young girls like myself — to help inspire them to follow their dreams, no matter what. ‘Looking Up’ really embodies that, the fact that while you’re looking up to your hero, your hero was once looking up to someone else. That really resonates with me.”
