Artistic Spectrum non-profit looking for space, community support - Ocala News

A new Ocala non-profit is looking for community support in its effort to provide an art studio space for all, including those on the Autistic spectrum.

The Artistic Spectrum is a new concept that hopes to create a space for those who may be neuro-typical, on the spectrum, young, old, differently abled, or “mythical creatures,” to express themselves through art therapy.

“From finger painting to sculpting, classes held based on different skill sets. All proceeds go toward special causes for special needs,” reads the organization’s Facebook page.

The Artistic Spectrum’s mission is to allow both children and adults with neurological and physical differences to express, connect, and heal through art therapy projects.

O’Malley’s Alley in downtown Ocala will host a metal show benefit on Saturday, July 10. Supported by multiple local businesses, the live music event will feature local metal bands Killing Addiction, Eroding the Past, and Not Promised Tomorrow.

Metal benefit for Artistic Spectrum

The event is $10 to attend, with $5 raffle tickets available for purchase for a chance to win a $300 gift card from Crawling Panther Tattoo or a salon package from Cloak & Dagger.

Although children may not attend the event, all proceeds from the metal show will benefit the Artistic Spectrum.

For more information on the non-profit organization, its initiatives, and its services, or to make a donation or volunteer, visit the Artistic Spectrum website.
