The Fairfield Bocce Federation is always looking for new bocce players. Anyone 16 and over is eligible to play.
There are four outside courts at the John Magnetti Memorial Bocce Pavilion located across from the Adult Recreation Center at 1200 Civic Center Drive, Fairfield. There also are two indoor courts inside the Adult Recreation Center.
Sign-ups for the winter league begin now through Sept. 16. Winter League play starts Oct. 19. The organization will be playing indoors at the Adult Recreation Center for the winter league. There are four different league slots, depending on which suits your schedule. They have a league on Tuesday at 9 a.m., Tuesday at 6 p.m., Wednesday at 9 a.m. and Thursday at 9 a.m.
You can join the league as a solo individual and we can place you on an existing team, or you can join the league and form your own team, but you must have a minimum of four players.
The league fees are $25 per person, which includes cash awards for first, second and third place in each league slot and free attendance to the awards banquet. Membership dues are $15 per person annually. The membership fee is valid from April 1 to March 31.
If you are totally new to bocce and unsure about joining our league and want to try it out without any commitment, you can come on any Thursday, at 5 p.m. and attend “free play” at the John Magnetti Memorial Pavilion or inside the Adult Recreation Center when winter begins. They will teach you how to play bocce, plus you can actually play a game against other bocce players, just for fun.
Bocce is a very low-impact sport, so anyone can play. All you have to do is stand and roll a 4-inch ball. We are a small league of a little over 100 members. Everyone is very welcoming and social.
