Storm departure…
Friday's winter storm dropped anywhere from 2" to 5" throughout the viewing area. A few lingering snow showers on the back side of this low stuck around for Saturday morning. Otherwise, we saw temperatures drop from the 30s to the teens by the afternoon. It also didn’t help that the wind was strong out of the NW. We saw a few wind gusts upwards of 50mph in SE Minnesota. Wind chills late Saturday dropped as low as -30 in spots, especially west of the Mississippi River.
Cold but quiet…
It’s looking like we will get a break for the next few days as high pressure sets in. This will drop our winds down and give us fairly calm weather. Temperatures only reach the low teens on Sunday, however. We can expect our wind chills to remain below zero for most of the day. A few flurries are possible for late Sunday night, but accumulations are not expected.
First half of the week…
Cold air sticks around for Monday and Tuesday of this upcoming week. Highs only climb to the teens Monday and low 20s for Tuesday. Again, our weather remains fairly quiet with some sunshine likely for the day on Tuesday. We will enjoy this nice little break in the weather department as this past week was quite busy!
Late week…
We’re seeing signs of another system late next week, but details are unclear. Our long range models are hinting at the chances for a wintry mix Wednesday through Friday. Our temperatures will be much warmer, with highs back in the mid to upper 30s, which is why multiple precipitation types will be possible. It’s something we’ll watch during the week!
