ROCHESTER, Minn. (KTTC) -- With more people fully vaccinated in Olmsted County, bars and restaurants in Rochester are seeing more people come through the doors.
"I have seen a huge upswing so that's awesome," said Cole Kundert, manager of Newt's Downtown and Hefe Rojo.
With business booming, those businesses need employees to walk through the doors as well.
"There are a lot of people hiring in downtown Rochester right now. We encourage people who are fully vaccinated to come back out," said Jack Krakow, Olde Brick House Rochester general manager. "If you are looking for a job, they're all over."
The increased business can in part be explained by the changing seasons.
"The weather started getting a little nicer," Kundert said. "We tended to see larger crowds whether it was morning or night."
Another reason for the larger crowd is due to more people getting vaccinated.
Restaurants enjoy the business but a few around town are a little short staffed.
"We've been having trouble finding certain skilled positions. Obviously those people tended to stay where they were at through the COVID crisis," Krakow said. "Now as things are opening back up, people are looking for a change."
The hospitality industry can be a perfect chance for a change in career.
"We do pay pretty well," Kundert said. "We take care of our employees the best we can."
While it might not have felt like it Friday evening, patio dining season is just around the corner. With that, restaurants are expecting to add more staff.
"We will definitely be looking for people," Kundert said. "If you're looking for a job, we're hiring."
Some places without outdoor dining will soon offer it.
"After our permits are approved by the city of Rochester, we will have this open for patio seating. We're looking at about a month out right now," Krakow said. "It will be open soon and we're excited about that as well."
Still at 50 percent capacity, Old Brick House in Rochester is thankful for the commuity for supporting it during the tough times.
"We're still looking for servers," the general manager said. "We're still looking for bartenders and occasionally a chef too."
While hoping for loosened restrictions, a few more downtown restaurants are also preparing for outdoor seating. The city is putting up barricades for restaurants that request them.
