Looking for a part-time job? UPS is hiring more than 100 people in central Pa. - PennLive

Looking for a part-time job in the Harrisburg or Carlisle areas?

UPS is hiring more than 100 permanent part-time people between two of its midstate facilities at 1821 S. 19th St. in Swatara Township and at 1 Ames Drive at South Middleton Township.

UPS says that the new jobs will support the “unprecedented increase in ecommerce-related shipping.”

The company says that more than 56 percent of its current drivers and management staff were originally hired for part-time package handler jobs.

“We’re proud to move our world forward by delivering what matters, and the rapid and ongoing growth of ecommerce coupled with overall demand for our services is creating new part-time opportunities,” Tasha Hovland, Mid Atlantic District President said in a press release. “We’re looking for people to join our team here in the Harrisburg area, and to possibly start a great career at UPS.”

Hourly starting pay is up to $17 depending on location, shift and position, and includes annual raises. UPS says that the employees will receive benefits, including healthcare (after a short waiting period), retirement contributions and a discounted stock purchase program. Eligible employees who are students can earn up to $25,000 towards college expenses, in addition to their hourly pay through the company’s tuition assistance program.
