The Tampa Bay Buccaneers are reportedly looking to get some help in the secondary in the form of veteran cornerback Richard Sherman as the team gets set to take on the New England Patriots Sunday.
According to NFL Network, the Buccaneers are bringing in Sherman for a free-agent visit. According to NFL Network’s Tom Pelissero, the Buccaneers are the first team to bring in Sherman this season and will try to get a deal done right away as multiple other teams are reportedly in contention.
The 33-year-old former Seattle Seahawks cornerback is a five-time Pro Bowler and five-time All-Pro selection. He spent the last three seasons with the San Francisco 49ers. However, he played only five games in 2020 before going down with a season-ending calf injury and becoming a free agent this offseason.
After time off to rehab, Sherman is now reportedly looking to get back on the field with a new team. The Buccaneers have been a popular destination for Sherman, as they remain a championship contender and have a glaring need at the position after some injuries in the secondary through the first three weeks.
