CARBONDALE (WSIL) -- If you have motivation and ambition, Southern Illinois Healthcare wants to hear from you. SIH is hiring for positions throughout their healthcare system.
VP & Chief Nursing Officer, Jennifer Harre, says they're searching for top-notch nurses who can work under pressure and grow with the center.
Harre explains, "We have a commitment to our organization. That means we're going to live our mission, that we are going to care for each other, treat each other with respect, and that's what we're looking for."
Leader of Talent Acquisition, Kristin King, said Wednesday's nursing job fair gave current and prospective nurses an opportunity to meet hiring managers and nurse leaders.
"We're very active in the community with recruitment, and my biggest advice to people is take a look at healthcare because healthcare is everything," King said.
She says SIH does not have a nurses shortage. Officials are trying to build more opportunities.
"We are very fortunate to live in an area surrounded by community colleges and universities that help us build that pipeline of new nurse graduates," she explains.
Southern Illinois Healthcare offers scholarships and a student loan forgiveness program valued at up to $21,000 for eligible candidates.
