Chadd Corson looking to make splash in final boys swimming season at Wilson - Reading Eagle

Chadd Corson has seen his times fall, the years fly by and Wilson’s dominance continue.

Heading into his final season swimming for the Bulldogs and legendary coach Roy Snyder, Corson has high hopes for himself and his teammates as they look to continue their runs of Central Penn League and District 3 titles.

“I feel like we’re going to have a strong team this year,” Corson said. “We did lose a couple of our good seniors but I feel we have people who can fill their shoes.”

Corson will be at the heart of Wilson’s pursuit for an eighth straight CPL title and sixth straight Class 3A District 3 championship. Overall, the Bulldogs have won 31 CPL and 21 District 3 crowns.

Corson played a key role in helping Wilson add to its championship hardware last season. Individually, Corson won the District 3 title in the 100-yard backstroke and was the runner-up in the 100 butterfly.

He was part of the District 3 gold medal-winning 200 medley relay team and the runner-up 400 freestyle relay team. He helped both relay teams win state medals by finishing seventh in the medley and eighth in the 400 free.

Corson, who anchored the 400 free relay team, returns with all three other teammates, Takoda Heckman, Josh Woessner and Isiah Eberly.

Heckman, the District 3 runner-up in the 200 individual medley, also was on the medley relay team.

“I feel we have good depth this year,” Corson said. “We still have a great roster.”

That’s been a theme throughout Snyder’s coaching career that is entering its 58th season.

The Bulldogs have won 51 straight CPL meets, going undefeated in league meets in each of the last seven seasons. Their last CPL loss was to Gov. Mifflin on Feb. 6, 2014.

Overall, Wilson has won 71 of its last 72 meets with the only loss in the last six years coming to Emmaus in 2020.

In Corson’s first three years, Wilson is 22-0 in league meets and 34-1 overall.

“It’s been great, it flew by,” Corson said. “I still can’t believe I’m going to be a senior. It hasn’t really hit me yet.”
