The Eagles have been keeping an eye on the quarterback class ahead of this month’s NFL Draft, according to Yahoo! Sports writer Eric Edholm.

The Eagles signed Wentz to a massive contract extension last offseason, and he is the team’s franchise quarterback moving forward. However, the team’s depth behind him still has question marks.

While Sudfeld re-signed with the team in free agency, through his first three years in Philadelphia, he’s only thrown 25 career passes. He also hasn’t started a season as Wentz’s definitive backup. Lauletta, Sudfeld’s only current competition for the backup job, was on the practice squad throughout the entirety of last year.

Armed with eight draft picks, five of which come on Day 3, the Eagles are likely to look for a prospect in the later rounds of the selection process. After missing massively on last year’s fifth-round pick, quarterback Clayton Thorson, the team will need to do a better job of evaluating quarterback talent in this year’s draft.

Here are four late-round quarterbacks who make sense for the Eagles:

1. Nate Stanley, Iowa

Stanley has the size and experience the Eagles seem quick to fawn over at the position. The 6-foot-4, 235-pound quarterback was a three-year starter for Iowa. He passed for 8,297 yards, 68 touchdowns and 23 interceptions during his college career. While his outlook is impressive, his accuracy leaves a bit to be desired. He never completed more than 60 percent of his passes during a season in college, leaving him with a 58.3 career completion percentage.

2. Anthony Gordon, Washington State

Gordon, listed at 6-foot-2 and 205 pounds, is on the smaller side of the quarterback class. However, what he lacks in size and experience (only one year as a full-time starter), he makes up for it with accuracy. Last season, Gordon completed 71.6 percent of his passes for 5,579 yards, 48 touchdowns and 16 interceptions. Gordon comes from the Air Raid offense, which will lead to a learning curve at the NFL level, but he offers the type of accuracy teams covet in a backup quarterback. Perhaps, he could be the next Gardner Minshew.

3. James Morgan, Florida International

The 6-foot-4, 229-pound passer certainly fits the physical mold the Eagles look for in quarterbacks. During his two seasons at FIU, Morgan passed for 5,312 yards, 40 touchdowns and 12 interceptions. His five-year college career, which started at Bowling Green, featured 61.5 completion percentage. While his accuracy may be a bit of an issue, his physical tools should appeal to Eagles coach Doug Pederson.

4. Steven Montez, Colorado

Montez earned some interest from the Eagles at the Senior Bowl in January. The 6-foot-4, 231-pound quarterback has some notable footwork issues, but he has been working with former NFL backup Jordan Palmer to correct those problems. A three-year starter at Colorado, Montez threw for 9,710 yards, 63 touchdowns and 33 interceptions during his college career. He has the type of heavy college production that the Eagles tend to favor, plus his size puts him in that category as well.
